Vanguard Group marks a company milestone with the move into its Charlotte corporate campus.

The Malvern, Pennsylvania-based investment management company moved 2,700 employees into the 700,000-square-foot building last week in a move to consolidate its Charlotte office footprint. , nearly two years after St. Louis-based  there.

paid $10 million for the 80.7-acre property at 2405 Governor Hunt Road in July 2020.

Jenifer Manry, Vanguard principal, head of corporate systems and Charlotte site co-lead, told the Charlotte Business Journal that 2025 is the company's 50th year in business and its 28th year in the local market. Manry said that, over those 28 years, Vanguard has grown in a way that made a single campus make sense.

"When we first entered the Charlotte market ... our primary objective was to build a strong talent base to support our retail, personal Investor and technology businesses," she said. "As Vanguard鈥檚 business goals and talent needs evolved ... we鈥檝e added talent across multiple disciplines underscoring the region鈥檚 capacity to support all facets of our business."

Manry added, "The growth of our talent base reflects both the local talent pool in Charlotte and our confidence in the region as a strategic hub for Vanguard," she said.

Vanguard held a ribbon-cutting event on June 3 to celebrate the milestone anniversary and welcome its employees to campus.

The corporate campus, which delivered in 2023, has extensive on-site amenities that include an upscale food hall with prepared meal options, an in-house health-care clinic, a tech bar for troubleshooting issues, a fully equipped fitness center, walking trails, outdoor work and social spaces, an on-site conference center, an early childhood development center and a town hall auditorium.

Manry said the campus made strategic sense for Vanguard for several reasons. First, because it was almost move-in ready. She said the company invested in some enhanced technology upgrades. Additionally, she said the site gave Vanguard the chance to deepen its roots in the market and finally have its entire local staff under one roof after previously being spread across five locations.

"Having our entire crew together will transform our ability to collaborate and innovate," she said. "This new campus creates an environment where our (employees) feel energized and inspired when they come to work, which ultimately makes us a more efficient and innovative workforce that is well-suited to continue serving our clients."
